In his capacity as Managing Partner, Bernard Edelman advises small and large corporations and non-profits in all aspects of corporate matters, with special expertise in litigation issues.   For example, in his capacity as managing partner of Edelman & Partners (and previously as a partner in one of Chicago’s oldest law firms) Mr. Edelman has:

¨      As lead trial counsel, developed special expertise in the forcible eviction and/or forced “work-out” of unusually complex lease defaults by “problem” tenants -- including law firms and real estate developers;

¨      Won at trial (and upheld on appeal) a judgment against Landlord and Wendy’s based on the arcane term of “Appurtenance” as contained within a commercial lease;

¨      Recovered millions of dollars in complicated commercial litigation cases where “recovery” was virtually impossible because of dissolved corporate entities;

¨      Replaced “Large Firms” mired in various litigation matters, and immediately implemented new and successful litigation defenses;

¨      Appointed Special Assistant Attorney General by the Attorney General’s office to adjudicate a complex litigation matter on behalf of the Illinois Department of Transportation ("IDOT");

¨      Defended an 11 million dollar foreclosure litigation case against one of the nation’s largest firms by implementing a “Defense Team” resulting in settlement on mutually advantageous terms; and

¨      Utilizes his “real estate expertise” developed in creating and revising Master Leases and sophisticated commercial contracts in the forcible eviction of tenants (such as law firms) and enforcement/ defense of litigation arising out of real estate and other contracts.
